This project, titled “Bridging the Gap Between India and Pakistan by Engaging Cross-Border Youth in Peace Dialogue,” is a promising youth-led initiative aiming to foster mutual understanding and peace between India and Pakistan. The project follows a structured, phased approach, beginning with a Cross-Border Perception Survey that will gauge initial perspectives and insights on perceptions, media influence, and stereotypes among participants from both nations.

Key Project Elements

Participants:

         a.  50 youth participants (25 each from India and Pakistan).

        b.   A mix of moderators, international and local speakers, and managing volunteers from universities.

Project Phases:

Phase A: Cross-Border Perception Survey (to measure existing views on cultural, media, and political perspectives).
Phase B: Expert-led Peace and Sustainability Lectures.
Phase C: Exclusive Youth Dialogue Sessions (5 sessions with 10 participants each, moderated discussions on themes from cultural to political).
Phase D: Informal Discussions among all participants for candid exchange of thoughts.
Phase E: Post-Dialogue Survey (to assess changes in perceptions).
Phase F: Essay and Research Submission (with selected works published to amplify youth perspectives).

Themes of Dialogue:

Cultural and Social Interests: Music, sports, cuisine, and festivals.
Historical and Heritage: Shared history, tourism, and language.
Media and Stereotypes: National narratives, social media, and stereotypes.
Political and Economic Relations: Economic cooperation, policies, and trade.
Conflict and Peace-Building: Partition, Kashmir conflict, and youth roles in peace.

Feedback and Surveys:

Pre- and post-surveys aim to track shifts in participant perspectives.
Informal discussions and surveys following each dialogue will assess immediate impressions.

Research and Publication:

Participants will be encouraged to submit essays and research on the impact of youth dialogues in bridging gaps between the two countries. Selected essays will be published to broaden the impact of the insights gained.

Outcomes

Through these phased engagements and moderated dialogues, the project aims to:

Shift stereotypes and preconceived notions.
Build interpersonal and cross-cultural understanding.
Amplify youth voices on peace, contributing to a sustainable discourse on India-Pakistan relations.
